Jamboree Housing Corporation Announces Executive Appointments

IRVINE, CA – Jamboree Housing Corporation today announced that Jose Sanchez has joined the company as vice president of asset management. In the newly created position, Sanchez reports to Jamboree executive vice president/CFO Marcy Finamore and oversees operation and management of the company’s $1 billion portfolio of properties throughout California.

One of California’s leading nonprofit community development organizations specializing in affordable housing, Jamboree builds, acquires, renovates and manages permanently affordable rental and ownership housing for working families, seniors and people with special needs. The company has developed more than 7,500 homes in 75 communities and currently has $233 million in affordable housing projects in its development pipeline.

Prior to joining Jamboree, Sanchez was chief financial officer since 2005 with Eagle Real Estate Group that included Eagle Real Estate Consulting and Eagle Real Estate Construction Co. He was a member of Eagle’s senior management team and was responsible for all aspects of the corporate financial function, including financial operations, raising of debt and equity, internal control and reporting, strategic planning, investing, risk management, treasury and asset management.

Along with Sanchez’s appointment, Mary Jo Goelzer has been named Jamboree's vice president of marketing & communications,  also a newly established position. Reporting to Laura Archuleta, Jamboree president, Goelzer is responsible for managing all corporate and business group branding, marketing, advertising and public relations strategies to promote, enhance and protect Jamboree’s brand. This includes oversight of all print and digital platforms as well as corporate events. Goelzer has been a part of Jamboree’s executive management team since 2001, most recently serving as COO – a position she held since 2004. In conjunction with Goelzer’s new assignment, Caitlyn Murphy has been promoted from administrative assistant to marketing & communications  specialist to assist in the day-to-day operations of the marketing department, including property and corporate events as well as tactical branding efforts with the staff and community.

“As Jamboree grows and we expand our operational horizons, it became increasingly obvious that we needed to intensify our marketing and corporate communications  activities under one department to connect with the multiple publics with which we are now engaged and Mary Jo’s knowledge of Jamboree and the affordable housing industry – coupled with her education and experience in communications  – made her the perfect candidate,” said Archuleta. “That organizational change gave us the opportunity to create the new position of vice president of asset management and we were fortunate to hire someone of Jose’s caliber and credentials to fill that position.”

Sanchez’s career includes serving as director of strategic planning for the Irvine Company’s Office Properties Division, where he was responsible for all strategic and analytical initiatives, including overall planning for the division’s budget and forecast processes. Prior to the Irvine Company, he was a portfolio manager with Edison Capital and Edison International where he managed multifamily affordable housing real estate investments from the construction stage through the 15-year affordability compliance period.

His other positions included being assistant controller with Western National Property Management – responsible for reporting of corporate owned and third-party managed portfolios of more than 12,000 units with a value in excess $2.5 billion and $200 million in annual revenues. He also served as accounting manager/assistant  controller with Lennar Partners and as a senior accountant with Trammell Crow Company.

Sanchez earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting from California State University, Fullerton, and an executive master’s of business administration degree from Chapman University. He attended UCLA’s Anderson School of Business as a Riordan Fellow.

Before joining Jamboree in 2011, Goelzer was an executive for nearly 20 years with Newport Pacific Capital Company, a national real estate development firm, where she served as vice president in several areas including marketing, public and private syndication, mortgage instrument programs, portfolio management, financing, and association management. Prior to that, she was director of investor services at American Diversified Corporation, a private holding company with real estate interest throughout the U.S. Goelzer earned a bachelor’s in journalism from the University of Washington and after her graduation served in on-air production and writing capacities with two television stations.
