Welcome to Ascent, a unique adaptive reuse development located in the vibrant City of Buena Park. A haven for progress and transformation, Ascent offers 57 units of high-quality permanent supportive housing for formerly homeless individuals earning between 30%-50% of the area median income. This rejuvenated community combines modern design and wrap-around services to aid residents in their journey towards a new life.
Ascent is a testament to Jamboree's commitment to innovative housing solutions, as well as its mission to provide resident services that truly benefit its communities. The complex comprises an interior and exterior revamp of two existing two-story buildings, resulting in fully furnished, modern homes. To ensure a warm welcome to new residents, each home comes complete with a starter kit of essential items to support this exciting chapter in permanent housing.
At Ascent, we believe in creating a supportive environment that enables our residents to thrive. Our on-site property manager works closely with residents and the broader community to provide and facilitate access to necessary services. These may include counseling, job and career training, access to computers and technology, and after-school care. By aligning with school districts, government entities, healthcare organizations, and other non-profits, we ensure the best practices and shared goals are met for our residents.
Every tenant at Ascent enjoys access to a variety of on-property services and nearby transit to workplaces, ensuring their daily needs are met. Safety is paramount, with measures such as on-property surveillance and fob-restricted entry in place. Furthermore, each newly updated apartment is fully furnished, and upon move-in, is equipped with a home starter kit of household essentials.
Aligned with the County of Orange's goal of building 2,700 supportive housing units by 2023, Ascent is a shining example of innovative rezoning. The transformation from transient motel to permanent residential apartments addresses the community's need for affordable and supportive housing. In collaboration with the City of Buena Park, local non-profits, and stakeholders, Ascent epitomizes its name by promoting stability, safety, and growth for its residents and the wider community.
The exterior façade of the refurbished Airport Inn buildings boasts a warm, contemporary architectural design, complete with stucco walls, faux wood inlays, and natural stones. The newly constructed community center spans 2,744-square-feet and includes counseling rooms, a meeting space, community kitchen, resident lounge, and a versatile indoor/outdoor area for resident activities.
Residents can relish the courtyard, complete with barbecues, tables, a half sports court, and a community garden. Within the studio apartments, residents can find new windows, updated cabinetry, vinyl plank flooring, and fully-equipped kitchenettes. Ample on-grade parking is available for onsite staff, service providers, and guests.
In line with Jamboree's commitment to sustainability, Ascent is designed to be GreenPoint Rated, promoting energy efficiency, reducing consumption, and fostering a healthier environment for residents. The GreenPoint Rated certification offers an independent seal of approval, confirming the homes are comfortable, durable, and resource-efficient.
Crucial to Ascent's success is the inclusion of fully funded, ongoing supportive services, helping formerly homeless residents transition to a stable environment in permanent supportive housing. These services include medication-management assistance, mental health counseling, and general life skills training. An onsite program coordinator will facilitate access to local community services, with the Orange County Healthcare Agency’s Adult and Older Adult Behavioral Health Division providing services for residents living with a mental health diagnosis.
Ascent is more than just a housing development; it's a community designed to enrich lives and promote growth. Welcome home to Ascent, where opportunity meets possibility.
